What is difference between recycling and upcycling?
09 August 2021
Recycling involves the destruction of waste in order to create something new, whereas upcycling takes waste and creates something new from it in its current state. ... While recycling is practical, upcycling is highly creative and can involve a wide variety of techniques and materials to create the finished product.

Here are two examples of clients homes where Shimwell Designs has reused several of the original finishes or elements from other parts of the house and created a brand new look.
The process does take more time to design and rework, however the finished product is more satisfying than building or purchasing all new elements.

This retro vanity, used to be a dining room server, some painting, new handles and stone top created a beautiful feature element.

A kitchen that was dark and dated, was given new life after new doors, handles and a full repainting was done. In this space all the cupboard carcasses were reused, some were put in new positions but only the centre island was brand new.
